Project Overview:
Shoot dates: May 29th and 30th. We would need you to be available for a 2 hour window on one of these days.
Location: Tillys studio - The Ironworks, 235 Alexander Street (located on Main and Alexander). The studio is step free with wide doorways. The washroom has one larger stall with a grip bar but does not have a handsfree automatic door. In the past to accommodate those who are unable to open a door themselves, we have assigned a production assistant to ensure that doors can be opened for those that need it. If you require any more information, please us know.
Who can apply: Any adult over the age of 18 who identifies as a person with a disability and would be comfortable having their photo taken. This could be both visible and invisible disabilities. No previous experience as a model is required. You must be available on May 29th or 30th and be able to get to the studio location - The Ironworks, 235 Alexander Street. Any support workers and caregivers are welcome to accompany you for the shoot
The concept: Disabled Joy - A project for disability pride month featuring bright joyful portraiture that will be a part of a poster that will be placed around the city. The shoot will take approximately 45 minutes per person with extra time beforehand to allow for wardrobe styling and hair and make up.
Where the images will be used: The images will be a part of a collage of images printed on a poster that will be placed around the city in July for disability pride month. The images will be used on social media and we will require a model release form to be signed allowing us to do this. The project is a personal project with no budget to pay for models but you will be provided with the top 5 images from the shoot for personal use as a thank you. No names will be associated with your image.
What to expect: A fun and joyful experience in the studio with studio flashes and a crew that is ready to adapt and accommodate you.
