Building an inclusive industry together

It’s not just my work that is inclusive, I’m passionate about making sure my teams and productions are too. Giving back and creating opportunities for underrepresented communities is part of my pact.

I’ve been incredibly fortunate to build a career doing what I love, and I believe it’s my responsibility to help create that same opportunity for the next generation. It’s as important to look inward at our teams than it is to look at the final work we’re producing.

As part of my commitment, I’m opening the door for emerging photographers from underrepresented communities to gain real experience, learn on the job, and grow within the industry. For every shoot that has the capacity to, my goal is to bring in one team member (with or without experience) from an underrepresented community onto set with me. Together we have to make the space for everyone to gain experience. When you book me as a photographer, you also agree to standing alongside me as we open the doors for those who have not had equal opportunities.

You’ll see this on quotes itemized as ‘4th Assist — On-Set Experience’ or perhaps ‘Production Assistant.’ I believe that if you show up on set, you deserve to be paid. I aim to pay an assistant a minimum of $250/day and increase that rate based on experience.
